'(w)hole wall', 2014-2015

water soluble graphite

"Drawing directly on the plaster wall, Sheehan eliminates the barrier between the viewer and the artwork. Line after imperfect line, top to bottom and side to side, the wall takes on the illusion of woven cloth. A singular opening interrupts the expanse to appear as a portal. The viewer is invited to pass through the wall, to enter into an undulating vision of their own making. Part provocateur, part humanist, Sheehan asks us to reconsider the belief in our inadequacy despite the fact of our completeness. To enjoy feeling whole in spite of the holes in our nature." SAM
